Belkin AV Cable for the iPod

I made the fatal error this week of trusting a salesperson. I distinctly went to Incredible Connection to look for a cable that would make my iPod Touch work on a television display. Not a flatscreen, plasma, hectic, crazy TV, just a regular TV.
I was told that the Belkin AV Cable for the 4gb iPod would work. I checked, rechecked and double checked with the very interested and kind sales guy that was helping. He insisted it would work. You can see where this is going.
It doesn’t work. Just a little heads up. Don’t but this AV cable if you are trying to connect your iPod Touch to a TV. It. Doesn’t. Work. Period.
Apparently what is required is this. The actual Apple cable. Nothing else will work. Apparently there is a little tiny chip that registers with the Apple AV cable when you plug it in. Only then does your iPod actually pick up the TV connection and give you the option to hook it up. Only then will this work.
What you need is an actual Apple cable, nothing less, nothing more.
From the Apple store:
Connect an iPod or iPhone to your television with the Apple Composite AV Cable, gather up your friends, and watch videos or slideshows together on the big screen. You can also connect the Composite AV Cable to your stereo or powered speakers for a room-filling audio experience.
It will cost you: $49 - R379
Available at - Hopefully any Apple store, otherwise online.
