The first HP store in the world

Yes, it is true, HP is launching the first HP store in the world. And guess what? It’s in South Africa, Johannesburg, Sandton, Sandton City. To be precise.

I attended the media launch/preview last night and I think that if the unfinished store is anything to go buy, the world is in for some changes. HP seems to be shifting their approach to media. But don’t take my word for it, let’s hear from Eric Cador, head of Personal Systems, EMA (Europe/Middle-East/Africa), HP.

The store is slick, well designed, and very open planned. As I was told at the event, it seems as though the HP Experience store (as it is named) intends to not only sell products available, but showcase products that will be available and are available elsewhere in the world.
I had the pleasure of meeting JacSharp - winners of the HP Design Your Personal Life competition. Really down to Earth, lovely people. Glad they won the event. They are in the process of doing great things so look out for their new album!
Basically the store launches on the first of April (Yes, that is April Fools day and no, I am not kidding) in Sandton City shopping mall. Ground floor at the Woolworths entrance.
Someone I was talking to had the great insight and presence of mind to notice (being a Windows user) that HP was going “very Mac” in their approach to things. I agree wholeheartedly. That is not an insult but the complete opposite in fact. They are suave, in touch with their market and realise that it’s the youth and their mothers and sisters who are determining what gets bought when and for how much.

Its great to see that international companies take an interest in south africa.
Good day, why no telephone numbers to contact you.? I stay in Springs and interested to buy a pouch for my iPAQ hw6515 PDA as well as screen protectors for this unit. I dont want to travel all the way there and find out you have no stock. If you do, what is the cost of each? If you do not can you order and again at what cost? Looking forward to your reply and please a contact telephone number. Regards Andre Noome. 082 376 3182
