Xbox 360 now even more affordable

From Friday 14 March all Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming consoles will drop in price in both Europe and South Africa. This price reduction is a welcomed move and has come at a time when sales of gaming consoles have plateaued somewhat.
The Xbox 360 Pro, which includes a 20GB hard drive and one wireless controller, will be slashed from R3,699 to R2,999 while the Xbox 360 Elite, which comes with a massive 120GB hard drive will cost you R3,999, a saving of R600. The stripped-down Xbox 360 Arcade console, aimed at entry-level gamers, will also be reduced from R2,699 to R1,999.
Xbox 360 is the number one next-generation console in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa (EMEA), owning 42% of the market in terms of life-to-date revenue and it has the highest software attach rate of any game console in Europe with more than 7.0 games sold per console.
So why the price cut?
A little bit of analysis shows that while Xbox 360 owns the market share in EMEA, console sales fall short of the Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3. The graph below shows how Xbox 360 sales compare to other gaming consoles over the last six months and it’s clear that a price reduction is needed.

What is interesting to note is that ever since Sony cut its price of the PS3 gaming console it has overtaken Xbox 360 and never looked back.
Overall though these stats and the subsequent price reduction benefit all of us and I might have to dump the idea of getting a Wii and rather buying an Xbox 360.

Buying a Xbox elite for 2k tomorrow.. second hand but in mint condition.. even with the price drop I rate its still a good buy
Pity I bought mine about two months ago
Anyway, keep up the good work! Great site!
Bought mine recently too!! Bugga!
Just a little opinion from my side, regarding the idea of dropping the idea of getting a wii, fat chance, i still want a wii, but the xbox seems to be getting ready to acquire a place next to the spot reserved for my wii
