Epson launches new all-in-one printer series

June 24, 2008 - By Guest Reviewer

Epson’s new Stylus TX200 and TX400 Series offer cost-effective printing, scanning and copying functionality in a stylish and compact unit that look as good as they print.

Packaged within a stylish and contemporary black design Epson’s innovative technology ensures the Stylus TX200 and TX400 Series deliver exceptional quality, speed and versatility to meet the demands of the modern home.

The new range of all-in-one printer, scanner and copier units has a small footprint to optimise space-efficiency and use individual ink cartridges. This supports cost-efficient printing as you only need to replace the colour you use, minimising ink wastage.

Epson Stylus TX200 and TX400 All-in-One Printers

The Epson Stylus TX200 and TX400 Series use Epson DURABrite Ultra Ink which is an advanced pigment-based technology that encapsulates the ink particles in a protective resin coating. This makes the ink resistant to water, smudging and fading and provides superb text and lab-quality photos, which can last up to 200 years when stored in a photo album.

Support for Digital Photography

Both the TX200 and TX400 Series cater for the increasing popularity of digital photography by offering PC-free printing capabilities via index sheet, the built-in memory card slots or PictBridge. To further enhance photo-functionality, the TX400 Series includes a 6.3cm crystal-clear LCD viewer to simplify navigation of print options and to view and print photos without the need to start a PC.

Time efficiency has also been considered by Epson and the Stylus TX200 and TX400 Series are able to print black and white and colour documents at up to 34 pages per minute.

Both models feature Epson PhotoEnhance technology, enabling you to get the best out of your photos. Images featuring skin tones, landscapes and skylines are detected automatically and reproduced with enhanced colour settings to improve the overall tones and contrasts. Also included is Epson Easy Photo Print, which makes it easy to remove red-eye.

Scanning has never been easier

The Stylus TX200 and TX400 Series’ built-in 1200dpi scanner delivers fast, high-quality scanning of both images and text documents. It is easy to make stand-alone copies or scan via the PC, and with Epson Easy Photo Fix you can restore colour, remove dust and correct backlight on faded or old scanned photos. Also included is ABBYY FineReader Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software, which makes it easy to scan and edit text.

Hans Dummer the regional manager of Epson SA had this to say,

“Epson has been at the forefront of product development in home printing and with the new Stylus TX200 and TX400 Series we have created a printer range that looks and performs better than its predecessors. They are both versatile, efficient and offer high-quality output to meet all the printing, scanning and copying needs of our consumers.”

The problem i have with cartridge printers is the cost, even this “Cost effective” models i am sire will cost you a pretty penny to use.

I bought an Epson Stylus CX8300 (CX8400 in USA). It DRAINS ink ALL THE TIME. In three months and about 10 prints (about 15 pages and 2 or 3 small color graphics each one) ALL THE INK CARTRIDGES WERE GONE. This aio printer is going to the trash and I’ll never get tricked by Epson JUNK again. This is all but cost-effective printing. Don’t be fooled.

I guess cost will always be an issue when it comes to ink cartridges. I recently received a complementary photo printer so got a set for free- but will see how it works out… if I eventually get around to buying the not-cost-effective printing paper.

Got something to say?
